Transplant/Root

1) Before transplanting, prepare whatever medium you are planting into. Always wet the medium with the same level of plant food that you used to grow the seedling. This is to avoid any shock to the seedling at transplanting.

2) Seedlings in 1.5” A-Ok plugs and round Macroplugs can be directly plugged into any of our blocks.

3) Miniblocks can be transplanted into loose media (Gro-Cubes™, granulate or other media), but take the wrapping off. Or they can be placed on top of slabs and larger blocks, but leave wrapping on to reduce algae growth. For slabs make a hole in the plastic on top of the slab where you want to place the block.

4) If you want bigger transplants. You can plug seedling into a smaller block (Delta 4 through 10) and root it some more. Then it can go on top of slabs or into a loose media such as granulate or Gro-Cubes™.

5) In the rooting stage after transplanting, you can increase plant food to an EC of 1.5-2.0. DO NOT water for the first 2-4 days to induce roots to grow into the new environment. But do not allow Grodan or medium that you used to go dry. Download our brochure Watering and pH for further instructions.

Plants growing in soil or other media can also be transplanted into Grodan Gro-Cubes™ or granulate, but gently wash off some of the soil before transplanting.
