| An easy way to get rid of your old stonewool is to till it into your soil. It will improve the tilth of your soil - helping sandy soil retain moisture and breaking up clay soil. Below you will find step by step pictures of stonewool being incorporated into a raised bed garden for flowers.
1) Pick an area to establish your plant bed. If you like,
you can use old Gro-Slabs
to line the perimeter of the bed. Break up your soil with a shovel
and/or tiller. Add soil or compost to fill up the raised bed. Add
25-50% old stonewool to the top 1.5 feet of the raised bed for optimum
benefits.
2) Till the stonewool into the top of the plant bed with a roto-tiller. You may need to go over the bed 2-3 times to fully break up the stonewool and incorporate it into the soil. You can add fertilizer to till in as well. | | | | | | 3) Select your seasonal plants for the raised bed, or plant some seeds. Transplant into your raised bed and water really well.
4) Add mulch to retain moisture. Cocodan
works well as a mulch. Always water well with newly transplanted
plants. Fertilize as needed throughout the season. |
